Basic Judaism Course

This course in Judaism (previously called Judaism: Roots and Rituals) is for anyone who would like to learn about Judaism, review his or her Jewish knowledge or has an interest in conversion to Judaism.

Students will explore the following aspects of Judaism among others: who is a Jew, God, Bible and rabbinics, Jewish laws and values, life-cycle ceremonies, the Jewish calendar and holidays, Jewish denominations, the synagogue, prayer, and Israel.

This class is required for anyone working with Rabbi Stiel on conversion, but it is also open to anyone in our congregation.  It will be taught by Rabbi Stiel with occasional sessions taught by Dr. Jeff Levin.  The fourteen session class will meet twice monthly on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm beginning October 16.  Cost for the class, including the textbook is $40 for members and $60 for non-menbers.  To sign up, please contact Patty in the Temple office, pmf4200@aol.com, or send in your check.
